    Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) gives active service members two options for housing; living on post or finding a home off-post within the community.

    • Once you have orders to move, contact the Housing Services Office (HSO) (785) 239-3525 / HSO off-post (785) 239-3736. They can answer all of your housing questions and provide services such as referrals, resolving tenant-landlord disputes, and guidance for entering lease agreements.

    • Single Soldiers and Geo-Bachelors can contact the Unaccompanied Housing Office at (785) 239-3525.

    • On-post housing at Fort Riley is privatized and provided by Corvias Military Living (785) 717-2258, which offers 2-4 bedroom homes of every style imaginable; apartment, duplex, single family and townhomes, all based on pay grade and family size. Home amenities may include: garage, pantry, walk-in closet and more. The 5 different communities feature things like playgrounds, swimming pools, fitness centers and more.

    Junction City is a city of 23,353 residents in northeastern Kansas, about 30 minutes outside the larger city of Manhattan. Manhattan has the state's 8th largest population, 52,300 people, and is one of the more major cities around. Off post housing is more readily available in both of these cities but can also be found in the much smaller communities of Abilene, Chapman, Enterprise, and Milford. Other cities nearby are Ogden, Riley, Wakefield, Herington, Alma and Alta Vista. A typical commute in the Junction City region is about 15 minutes. Manhattan is a college town, home to Kansas State University, and has been ranked by Forbes as one of the best small communities for businesses. Needless to say, although Kansas may not be the most bustling place, there is plenty going on in the Fort Riley area.

    About the Installation
    Fort Riley is responsible for training Military Transition Teams or MiTTs. These teams consist of 10-15 men who come from the Army, Navy, and Air Force to undergo intense training for a 60-day period. Transition training is focused on teaching soldiers how to mentor and advise Iraqi and Afghan security forces. Fort Riley is located near Junction City, Kansas, and covers over 100,000 acres.
